Don’t force it! Apply penetrating oil to threads, wait 15 minutes. Use strap wrench (not pipe wrench) for grip. Tap gently with rubber mallet. If still stuck, contact HYSF support.
Why Connectors Get Stuck
- Over-tightened beyond torque specification
- Corrosion between threads (galvanic or salt)
- Debris or sand in threads
- Galling (metal-to-metal welding)
Safe Disconnection Procedure
- Apply penetrating oil: Use marine penetrating oil, wait 15-30 minutes
- Use proper tools: Strap wrench (not pipe wrench which crushes housing)
- Apply controlled force: Steady, increasing pressure while turning
- Tap gently: Use rubber mallet on coupling nut while turning
What NOT to Do
- ❌ Don’t use pipe wrench (crushes housing)
- ❌ Don’t use torch/heat gun on high (damages seals)
- ❌ Don’t use steel hammer (deforms metal)
- ❌ Don’t jerk or apply impact force
When to Get Help
Stop and contact HYSF support if you’ve applied maximum reasonable force or see deformation starting.
