Friction is the enemy of rubber seals.
- Function: Grease reduces mating force and helps the rubber “slide” rather than “tear” during connection.
- Volume: Do not over-grease. Too much grease can trap water or create a “hydraulic lock” that prevents the connector from fully seating.
- Compatibility: Never use petroleum-based lubricants (like WD-40 or Vaseline) on Neoprene connectors, as they will cause the rubber to swell and fail.
