What lubrication is recommended for maintenance?

Regular lubrication extends the service life. We recommend applying a thin film of Molykote 44 Medium (a silicone-based grease) or an equivalent dielectric grease to the rubber sealing face and the male pins before each mating cycle.

Friction is the enemy of rubber seals.

  • Function: Grease reduces mating force and helps the rubber “slide” rather than “tear” during connection.
  • Volume: Do not over-grease. Too much grease can trap water or create a “hydraulic lock” that prevents the connector from fully seating.
  • Compatibility: Never use petroleum-based lubricants (like WD-40 or Vaseline) on Neoprene connectors, as they will cause the rubber to swell and fail.
