Are HYSF connectors resistant to Sunlight and UV Radiation?

Yes. Our standard Black Neoprene and Polyurethane compounds contain Carbon Black, which is a natural and highly effective UV stabilizer. This ensures that connectors installed on ocean buoys, surface vessels, or deck equipment do not crack or degrade even after years of direct sun exposure.

Surface durability is just as important as subsea performance.

  • UV Attack: UV rays break down the polymer chains in cheap rubber, leading to “crazing” (fine cracks) which eventually compromise the seal.
  • Protection: The carbon black absorbs the UV radiation and dissipates it as heat, protecting the polymer matrix.
  • Storage: While they are UV resistant, we still recommend covering unmated connectors with Dummy Plugs to keep the contact gold plating clean.
