How do I properly mate the connectors? (Push, Don’t Twist)

Align, Push, and Vent. First, align the white dot (Guide Pin) on the male and female halves. Push them straight together until you feel the air vent out. NEVER TWIST the connector body during mating, as this can shear off the electrical pins or tear the rubber body.

The “Twist” is the #1 killer of subsea connectors.

  • Alignment: Use the visual guide mark or the tactile feel of the guide pin engaging the slot.
  • The Push: Push steadily. You may feel resistance as the air trapped inside is compressed.
  • Venting (Burping): If the connector feels “bouncy,” wiggle it very slightly (without rotating) to let the trapped air/water escape, then push home until the faces are flush.
