How often should I inspect and replace the O-rings?

Inspect the Bulkhead O-ring every time you install or remove the connector from the housing. Look for “compression set” (flattening), cuts, or cracks. As a preventative measure, we recommend replacing the O-ring once a year or after any maintenance cycle where the seal was disturbed.

O-rings are cheap; electronics are expensive.

  • Inspection: Run your fingernail gently over the O-ring. If you feel a snag, replace it.
  • Flattening: If the O-ring looks square instead of round (permanent deformation), it has lost its elasticity and won’t seal effectively at low pressure.
  • Spares: Always keep a bag of HYSF Spare O-rings in your toolkit. Don’t reuse an old O-ring just to save $1.
