What should I do if the Insulation Resistance (IR) reading is low?

Don’t panic; it’s often just dirt.

• The Cause: Saltwater residue creates a conductive path across the rubber face.
• The Fix: Spray liberal amounts of alcohol on the face and pins. Scrub gently with a toothbrush. Blow dry with clean compressed air.
• Persistent Issue: If cleaning doesn’t work, water may have wicked inside the cable or the potting. This requires replacing the assembly.
