“Wet-mate” does not mean “Live-mate”.
- Arcing: Water is conductive. Plugging in a live connector (e.g., 48V or 300V) creates a momentary arc that pits the contact surfaces.
- Protocol: Always power down the system (turn off the PSU or ROV output) before connecting or disconnecting the cables.
- Exceptions: While some specialized inductive couplers exist for live mating, our standard pin-and-socket connectors require a power-off protocol for safety.
