What Depth Rating Really Means
Depth rating = Maximum depth where connector maintains seal
This is determined by:
- Pressure testing in hyperbaric chamber
- Testing to 1.5x rated depth
- Holding pressure for 24-72 hours
- Checking for leaks or deformation
Example: A 500m rated connector is actually tested to 750m before certification.

- Every 10m of seawater = 1 bar (14.5 PSI) of pressure
- 100m depth = 10 bar = 145 PSI
- 500m depth = 50 bar = 725 PSI
