Быстрый ответ: Don’t worry—we’ll help you choose. Simple rule: Pick a connector rated for at least 1.5x your maximum operating depth. If your ROV goes to 100m, choose 150m+ rating (we’d recommend 300m for safety margin). Most common ratings: 50m (pools/shallow), 100m (coastal), 300m (inspection ROV), 500m (offshore), 1000m+ (deep water). Tell us your application and we’ll recommend the right rating. All our connectors are tested beyond their rating for extra safety.
Choosing Depth Rating – Simple Guide
The Golden Rule
Choose a connector rated for at least 1.5x your maximum depth.
Why? This gives you:
- ✅ Safety margin for unexpected conditions
- ✅ Accounts for pressure spikes during deployment
- ✅ Compensates for wear over time
- ✅ Peace of mind
Quick Selection Chart
| Your Max Depth | Minimum Rating | Recommended Rating | Common Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0-10m | 50m | 50m | Pools, tanks, very shallow water |
| 10-30m | 50m | 100m | Aquaculture, harbor, shallow inspection |
| 30-100m | 150m | 300m | Coastal survey, shallow ROV |
| 100-200m | 300m | 500m | Inspection ROV, offshore wind |
| 200-500m | 750m | 1000m | Deep inspection, subsea construction |
| 500-1000m | 1500m | 2000m | Deep water ROV, oil & gas |
| 1000-2000m | 3000m | 3000m | Deep sea research, pipeline |
| 2000m+ | 4000m+ | 7000m | Full ocean depth, scientific |
Common Scenarios

Scenario 2: Aquaculture / Fish Farm
- Actual depth: 10-30 meters
- Recommended: 100m rating
- Why: Good safety margin, handles storms and tides
- Продукт: HYSF-MCBH series, 100m rating
Scenario 3: Inspection-Class ROV
- Actual depth: 100-200 meters
- Recommended: 500m rating
- Why: Industry standard, good availability, proven reliability
- Продукт: HYSF-MCBH series, 500m rating
Scenario 4: Offshore Wind Farm
- Actual depth: 30-80 meters
- Recommended: 300m rating
- Why: Harsh environment, extra margin for safety
- Продукт: HYSF-MCBH series, 300m rating
Scenario 5: Deep Water Research
- Actual depth: 1000-2000 meters
- Recommended: 3000m rating
- Why: Critical applications need maximum safety margin
- Продукт: HYSF titanium series, 3000m rating
What Depth Rating Really Means
Depth rating = Maximum depth where connector maintains seal
This is determined by:
- Pressure testing in hyperbaric chamber
- Testing to 1.5x rated depth
- Holding pressure for 24-72 hours
- Checking for leaks or deformation
Example: A 500m rated connector is actually tested to 750m before certification.
Pressure vs Depth
For the technically curious:
- Every 10m of seawater = 1 bar (14.5 PSI) of pressure
- 100m depth = 10 bar = 145 PSI
- 500m depth = 50 bar = 725 PSI
- 1000m depth = 100 bar = 1,450 PSI
- 7000m depth = 700 bar = 10,150 PSI

Common questions we’ll ask:
- What’s the deepest you’ll operate? (be honest, include margin)
- Is this for ROV, AUV, fixed installation, or other?
- Freshwater or saltwater?
- Will it be deployed/recovered frequently or stay underwater?
- Any special conditions (high current, extreme temps, etc.)?
Safety First
When in doubt, go with the higher rating. The cost difference is usually small compared to:
- Risk of equipment loss
- Cost of recovery operations
- Project delays from failures
- Reputation damage
