Short-Term Storage (Days to Weeks)
Between Deployments:
- Rinse thoroughly – Fresh water, remove all salt
- Dry completely – Wipe with lint-free cloth
- Inspect O-rings – Quick visual check
- Light lubrication – Silicone grease on O-rings
- Install caps – Both plug and receptacle
- Store in dry location – Protected from elements
Long-Term Storage (Months to Years)
Preparation Steps:
- Complete cleaning
- Disassemble connector
- Clean all parts with mild soap and water
- Rinse thoroughly with fresh water
- Dry completely (air dry or low heat)
- Detailed inspection
- Check O-rings for damage
- Inspect housing for cracks
- Verify contacts are clean
- Replace any damaged parts
- Proper lubrication
- Apply fresh silicone grease to O-rings
- Light coating on threads
- Don’t over-lubricate
- Protective packaging
- Use original packaging if available
- Or use sealed plastic bags
- Include desiccant pack (silica gel)
- Label with date and connector info
